HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

  St. Ann’s School, Avanigadda (Co-Education) is a Roman Catholic, Minority Institution established by the Society of the Sisters of St. Ann in the year 1988. The schools now registered under St. Ann’s Educational Society, Vijayawada.
Years ago Avanigadda was an uninhabited low-lying waste land which gave shelter to a large number of people who were living in slums on the Bandar Canal Bank. Lack of medical and educational facilities made the life of the people indeed pathetic and the same was noticed by the municipal authorities in 1962 the municipality requested the Sisters of St. Ann to come to the rescue of the people by providing Medical Care & Educational facilities.

The sisters immediately started with a health care centre but could not start a school. Due to lack of personnel, starting a school remained as a dream in the hearts of many. The long-awaited hopes of the people of this area was fulfilled, when we started an E.M. School here on June 21st 1988. Rt. Rv. Joseph Thumma Bishop of Vijayawada inaugurated the School wchih then started with L.K.G. Class.
An integral development of the children entrusted to our care is made possible through a sound intellectual, physical, moral and cultural formation. The school will encourage personal responsibility, healthy competition and leadership qualities because what we aim at is good character with a discipline. “The curriculum is arranged so as to prepare students for the ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) Examinations. The medium of the School being English and since we cannot falls short of the expected standard, the co-operation of the parents is a must and it is the secret of the success of our children.


AIM OF THE SCHOOL

  The object of this institution is to prepare future citizens who would think and work for the motherland with a spirit of dedication irrespective of their difference in caste, creed or religion. It expects the child to turn out to be a person of God and Good character from whom knowledge, high principles, culture and refinement will overflow to the society in which he/she lives.
  The school also aims at giving all-around formation ased upon the ses of Roman Catholic Christian faith. This Institution is premantly means for Catholic Christian Miniroty and as such ahs the Right to administer the school according to the right guaranteed under article 30 (1) of the Constitution of India.

OUR MISSION

"Our profession means pray and work. We should turn our work into prayer. The total self-giving to God will give us real happiness in our work" (Mother Esther Staubli) Keeping the visionary and missionary zeal of our Founder in our dedicated life, we the sisters of St. Ann reveal God's merciful and compassion, to the people around as we plunge our selves to touch the lives of our needy brothren in the following manner. To practice the apostolate of charity in the service of the sick Mother and children especially the poor, we render our ministry in the hospitals, clinics and in their homes. To establish pastoral care, we take initiation, to stay in the villages, by means of rural camp and evangelization. To create the better citizen of the world, we have started the education ministry not only to the literate, but also to the illiterate, who are deprived of the primary needs. To spread the mission of Christ to different continents of the world, we work in different mission states in collaboration with other institutions To provide job opportunity for the under privileged we have organized Vocational training, Tailoring centre, Typing centre etc.... To feel one with the different types of humanity who are eliminated from the society, the innocents, who are victimized by powerful sector, we extend our helping hand in prison ministry, thus we bring consolation and comfort.
